Part of the CMODA35T demo was indeed integrated into an IP form. The source for that code is not currently in a release form. The objective of the demo is to provide an alternate, quick and painless way for individuals new to the Xilinx toolset to create a bitstream and see their new CMOD-A35T working. Please understand that there aren't many people getting paid to provide code or assistance around here; so there's that pesky trade-off of providing something for free and providing something intended to better the "community".
The more important purpose of the demo is to encourage users to try developing their VHDL skills; so providing a bit of motivation to have them design their own functionality isn't a bad thing from my perspective. There is plenty of HDL source available in the Digilent Project Vault to assist in this process. Of course, there are also a number of people willing to help with specific questions on this forum as well.
I realise that developing you own code base ( IP if you will ) is a daunting task for those getting started and using the development methods that Xilinx and Digilent prefer appear to be an easier short cut to working designs. I'm encouraging the longer, more difficult, path because I believe that the destination is a much better place to operate in. There are other forums within the Digilent ecosystem that offer a discussion of ideas and might be interesting or even perhaps useful.
I do thank you for mentioning that you tried out the demo. I have been encouraged to submit new projects to the Vault and always try to allow users to expand on the project's limited objectives by re-using source.

The problem is that the USB IN packets/bytes are randomly lost/altered.
I tried various kernel options, limiting the USB transfer rates but had no luck. The data corruption reduced from one in 1-60 seconds to one in 10-60 minutes, which it is still not good...
It seems that the root of the problem is in the low level FTDI library, kernel or USB modules, or between them...
The Analog Discovery is working fine with other SOCs but not with the RPi.
I also notice issue with the USB keyboard I use with the RPi, time to time key presses are not received.

As @jpeyron said in the post marked as accepted solution, the Zynq processing system will be configured with the board presets when you first add the Zynq processing system IP core to the block design and run the block automation task from the green message that appears! Just remember to keep the Apply Board Preset option checked as shown in he picture. So this means if you are using the pre-built block design from the example project, a possible solution can be to remove the existing Zynq processing system block and adding a new one!

Taking a look at this thread, you may need to re-generate your BSP sources, or potentially delete it and create a new one. I would also make sure that all of the SDK settings (I'm not certain if you have changed any) are on their default settings.

I'm not certain on the differences between the two interrupt controllers, you will likely need to contact Xilinx to see if they have any additional thoughts or concerns on this.
As for the SDK debugging behavior, according to this Xilinx site, the GDB mode is depreciated, so you will likely want to instead use the "Launch on Hardware (System Debugger)" option instead for some better results, as this Xilinx forum thread seems to indicate as well.

CmodA735tDemo is a Vivado project that requires very little resources and is an easy way to try out the board's resources.
Requires Vivado 2015.2 or later and a Cmod A7-35T board. There is a Python program to run the demo that also requires Python 2.7 and pyserial 2.7 but any terminal emulation program such as Putty will also work, though with a bit more effort.

NOTE: Vivado 2019.2 and later breaks the Vivado IP created in earlier versions. To build this project in Vivado 2019.2 just follow the README file except instead of adding the clk_wiz_0.xci file as IP you need to create an MMCM using the Vivado 2019.2 clock Wizard (use the default name) . The only thing that needs to be changed from the default settings is the input clock rate which is 12 MHz. I use the archive above from here to build the project just today using Vivado 2019.2 on WIN10.
In case anyone looks here for advice on using PmodOLEDrgb with Arty, I found (similar to SteveD's March 14 post) that I could get everything to upload to the FPGA and "run" but have nothing on the display (Vivado 2016.2 on Win 7). After a bit of searching around, it seems the code was running, but the calls to usleep() were being macro'ed to millisecond sleeps not microsecond, so it was running 1000x slower than intended. Dropping all calls to usleep() by 1000x made it run fine.
My name is Petersan and I am a newbie to the forum but not to the Digilent product line. I purchased the chipKIT Max32 and the network shield awhile ago and I’ve developed a few good projects, classes etc. (education only so far) that I used in the lab (the garage). My wife got me the chipKIT Wi-Fire and I can wait to cut my teeth on this new board and port my old projects over. I used to be reluctant at joining any of the forums; but now that I am a bit more involve on some more serious projects, I think there is great benefit to being part the group.
With external powered USB hub and Raspberry Pi A model ... Analog discovery rev c(old Black) working just great... Its slow but obvious with 256mb ram...

waveform 3.1.5 detects device and run the device very well I have tested up to 4 hours without any issue on raspberry pi A...
I was getting “Device configuration failed (PLL 1)" error.
I tried different things. finally, I disconnected the cables and rebooted the laptop - that fixed the problem.

Hi, all. My name is Matt and I am a hobbyist and also an electronics technician by trade.
I own a Digilent Analog Discovery w/BNC adapter board, and a Nexys2-1200 w/parallel LCD, also from Digilent. I use TINA and Waveforms, and have the Analog Parts kit and Mastech DMM in your product line. I have worked through most of Real Analog, and all of Real Digital, and have both Digital Design books by Haskell, and the FPGA book listed on your website.
I have used your products and worked through so many of your materials and recommended books because as I have tried each one, I have found it to be a top notch quality resource. My personal favorite *BY FAR* is Real Analog. I do not know the instructor's name, but kudos to that man for clarity of instruction. I have learned much from him. Give him a raise!
I list all this out to give you a bit of background on me before I say this: Please continue making educational materials. Your Analog Discovery product is awesome, but it was Real Analog that elevated me as a technician and budding engineering student and made me want MORE. Real Digital was good, too. There are tons of "entry-level" educational materials on the internet, but they all share a common lack of depth and mathematical rigor. Real Analog was a massive breath of fresh air. As someone who has a casual understanding of calculus, and no idea what a differential equation was when I started Real Analog, I was impressed at the depth of material and simultaneously the ease of learning that the program provided. It made me Google and Youtube things like "Complex Impedance" and "Phasor Diagram" and "Solving Differential Equations", something I had never done before.
For the marketing folks here, I would emphasize the value in having educational materials using your products, akin to the Real Analog-Analog Discovery dichotomy. Make a program teaching microcontrollers (with rigor!) using your ChipKit products. Make a digital course using Basys or Nexys products (or either/both!). That's why I got Haskell's books with my Nexys2, and also why I bought Pong P. Chu's book instead of another FPGA book. I had a lab in my hand that the *book used*.
If you build it, they will come; and buy the accessories, to boot.
P.S. Thanks for everything your company has done. You're awesome, and I recommend you to every amateur, student, hobbyist, ham radio operator, and some professionals that I know.
Hi, my name is Gian I'm an hobbist. My Interest cover FPGA. I bought some of your products (basys2 to Nexys4) that I regular use. This forum is a good idea!!
During device opening internal chips are enabled and configured. This results in consumption increases, specially when the 100 MHz clock (PLL) is started. The needed current increases from 100mA to 500mA. In case the USB can't provide enough current the voltage drops below the minimal required for the device to operate and communication fails.
In case you get “Device configuration failed (PLL 1)" or "Communication with the device failed.” error message:
The device needs at least 2W/400mA from USB cable. To satisfy this:
- Try to use different USB cable and computer plug.
- Use the USB plug on the back of the PC, not the one on the front panel.
- Use short cable, do not use long cable or cable extender.
- Use powered USB-hub, avoid un-powered hub.
- Use USB-Y cable to load power from two plugs.
Device not detected by WaveForms:
Open Windows Device Manager then connect the device and wait up to one minute for a device to appear:
- USB Serial Converter, with warning
- Connect the device directly to the computer's USB plug without using external hub.
- Restart the computer.
- Reinstall WaveForms, including the Adept Runtime section.

- Other application might have erased the USB controller EEPROM (FT_Prog, programming cable drivers...)
Use the "My device is not listed" button in WaveForms application Device Manager to reprogram the EEPROM.
