Connecting a GigE Camera to my Zedboard

Basically I was wondering if it were possible to connect an Allied Vision GigE camera to my zedboard? I am using the Mako G030B model, and was hoping to be able to process the data to run it through some algorithms. 

I was intending on just using the ethernet cable from the camera to the FPGA, however if there is a better input please let me know!

Hi @JakeWhitt,

I do not see any reason why you would not be able to connect an Allied Vision GigE camera to your zedboard. Unfortunately, we do not have any designs or or experience with this type of project.

@jpeyron is there any camera you would recommend? I was hoping it would have some range of course. It's starting to look like the GigE cameras are not so grand when it comes to interfacing with a Zedboard because none of the stuff happens to be open source.

Hi @JakeWhitt,

We currently do not have a camera that we can recommend for the Zedboard. We have seen others use the OV7670 with the zedboard. Here is a project with the zedboard and the OV7670.

I am not sure about this but have you tried using Emergent Vision Technologies GigE Camera. However, you can try following the instruction mentioned here: https://www.researchgate.net/post/How_do_I_interface_a_camera_with_a_FPGA_board
