Cannot mix incompatible Qt library (5.15.11) with this library (5.15.12)

Adrian Campos

Question

Hello,

this is my first time posting in this forum. First of all, thank you to everyone that can provide support. I have already expended many hours looking on the internet and I cannot figure out a solution by myself.
If anyone else is suffering from the same issue, please comment and describe your case in a descriptive manner.

Description:

So, the topic is that i am running Waveforms on Linux (Tuxedo OS, which is based on Ubuntu) and i recently face an incompatibility issue with Qt libraries. See the response from the terminal. I must mention that I was able to use the program for some time. Maybe an update screwd everything.

adriancm@adrian-tuxedogeminigen2:~$ waveforms
Cannot mix incompatible Qt library (5.15.11) with this library (5.15.12)
Abortado

Those are the only packages on my computer pointing to Qt5.15.11

adriancm@adrian-tuxedogeminigen2:~$ sudo apt list --installed | grep 5.15.11

libqt5script5/jammy,now 5.15.11+p22.04+vrelease+git20231128.0855-0 amd64 [instalado, automático]
libqt5scripttools5/jammy,now 5.15.11+p22.04+vrelease+git20231128.0855-0 amd64 [instalado, automático]

In contrast, most of the packages on my computer are Qt5.15.12.

adriancm@adrian-tuxedogeminigen2:~$ sudo apt list --installed | grep 5.15.

WARNING: apt does not have a stable CLI interface. Use with caution in scripts.

iproute2/jammy,now 5.15.0-1ubuntu2 amd64 [instalado]
libijs-0.35/jammy,now 0.35-15build2 amd64 [instalado, automático]
...
libqt5gui5/jammy,now 5.15.12+p22.04+vrelease+git20240113.0828-0 amd64 [instalado, automático]

As you can see in this lines of code, "libqtscript5" and "libqtscripttools5" are directly related to "digilent.waveforms".

adriancm@adrian-tuxedogeminigen2:~$ sudo apt remove digilent.waveforms

Counter actions:

I have tried the following:

  • [FAIL] Remove Qt libraries and install from a different server. It didn't install version Qt5.15.1.
  • [FAIL] Removing digilent.waveforms and Qt5.15.11 and download the latest version.
  • [FAIL] I looked on the internet for the 5.15.12 version of those libraries and install them but i didn't achive anything. Probably even if i install them and remove the 5.15.11 waveforms will not call the 5.15.12 libraries.
    eg: https://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/opensuse/15.5/x86_64/libQt5Script5-5.15.12-150500.1.4.x86_64.html
  • [FAIL] Download the previous version of waveforms. Even if going some versions back would fix the issue, it don't think this is the better solution.

Questions:

  • Has anybody faced a similar issue?
  • Is this an issue related to my PC updating Qt libraries or Waveforms needs a new update?
  • Any proposal to fix this issue?

I am looking forward to your responses.

Kind regards.

@JColvin thank you for the relocation.

@attila sudo apt update and upgrade, i have tried but it is not helping in this case, at least in the short term.

Those are some recent links pointing to the same problem:

  • https://www.mail-archive.com/kde-bugs-dist@kde.org/msg881268.html
  • https://github.com/mixxxdj/mixxx/issues/12680
  • https://discuss.kde.org/t/last-updates-remove-kdevelop-and-it-can-not-be-installed/7758

So it seems that the problem is OS related. It is will be probably be fixed with a new update in the following weeks.
Thank for your comments, i will post back when it is fixed.
