AD3 Exhibiting strange behavior

coleblax

Question

My Analog discovery 3 makes popping noises at intervals, like a breaker or something. Never had this happen with AD2's. Also, it is struggling to be recognized by Waveforms, I have to unplug and replug multiple times. Am I doing something wrong or did I get a dud?

In terms of not being reliably recognized by WaveForms, that is less normal. (the relay noises are normal as Attila indicated)

Are you connecting the AD3 to your host computer (Windows?) with the included USB-C to C cable or going through a hub? What does your setup look like?

Thanks,
JColvin

I missed the second part of the question...

The AD3 requires slightly more power than AD2. The connection problem could be caused by USB contact or power insufficiency. Try using other port, cable, powered hub, 5VDC aux supply.

The newer software version improves the detection of some problems caused by low supply voltage:

On Windows make sure "Load VCP" is not checked.
