Issues connecting to Genesys 2 platform board using JTAG port

Question

Hello Forum,

I recently purchased the Genesys 2 development platform and i'm having issues connecting to it. I've downloaded/installed the most recent vivado sw along with the latest boards file from Digilent, and being that the board gets identified initially tells me that the boards file installation was done properly.

The problem is when I try to connect and program it using JTAG port (placed jumper to pins 2 and 3 in JP5 as instructed).  The board does not get recognized by the HW manager.

I've checked whether the drivers are up to date for the micro-usb device used and they are.  I've also installed the latest cables drivers and that did not help.

There is only one status LED ON and that is the PGOOD.

Has anybody else experienced this problme?  if so, how to get around it.

Paulino

Hi @paulinom,

The board getting identified within Vivado when creating a project mostly just indicates that the board files were correctly loaded so that any premade Digilent materials (through the Board tab within the Block Design) are available.

Regardless, it sounds like you are connecting to the board correctly (CONFIG jumper JP5 set to JTAG, cable connected to the USB JTAG micro USB port as opposed to USB UART, and presumably have power connected to the Genesys 2 and the board switched on).

If you switch off the board and set JP5 to QSPI, I presume the out of box demo starts up on the board?

Presuming this is the case, I have sent you a PM with some instructions for what you can try.

Thanks,
JColvin
