About PCAM_5C_SCH drawing

Question

Hi digilent team:

In this drawing, the DOVDD of OV5640 is powered by 1.8V so that PCAM_5C adopts "power up with internal DVDD" according to its datasheet. The DVDD net on drawing seems to be output of OV5640. Does OV5640 automaticlly configure DVDD pin as output? Any additional operation is needed when I have PCAM_5C board?

Hi @RggBer,

I have reached out to an engineer more familiar with the Pcam 5C regarding the specifics on how the OV5640 chooses internal vs external powering (I can't readily find the answer based on the datasheet that I found online here), but they are out of office until next week.

Otherwise, there is a recommended power up sequence that is mentioned in the refererence manual here: https://digilent.com/reference/add-ons/pcam-5c/reference-manual#power-up_and_reset.

Thanks,
JColvin

Hello,

I had forgotten to update this thread with the reply I received a week later:

Quote

The Pcam 5C indeed has DOVDD = 1.8V and it uses the OV5640 internal regulator for DVDD. OV5640 automatically enables this internal regulator upon powerup; there is no other step necessary from software for this.

Thanks,
JColvin
