AC Power Cable Frequency Reading

Can the digilent analog 2 be setup to read from an AC power American outlet?  I would like to figure out a way to  connect to a power outlet and compute out the 60 Hz signal from the wall. Reason being I would like to use this frequency reading as a when it spikes are a trigger. Is this something I can do with the digilent analog 2 setup.

Potentially yes, presuming you have an appropriate set of BNC probes and needed compensation, as mentioned in this post:

When you say "spikes" are you referring to spikes in the voltage or something else?
