Analog Discovery 2 Not Recognized by Computer

Kelsi Terry

Question

Hi everyone. This weekend I was trying to test out my new Analog Discovery 2 on my laptop, but could not get very far because when I opened Waveforms, my device was not detected. I received a notification on my laptop when trying to connect the device via USB stating "The last USB device you connected to this laptop has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it." I opened device manager and saw "Device Descriptor Request Failed". I faced the same problems using a secondary laptop also. I would like to know if this has happened to anyone else, and if so, did you find a solution? Should I exchange my Analog Discovery 2 for a new device?

I have this exact same problem but a little more history:

The device used to work. It became intermittent after about a month of use (plug it in 10 times it would work only 5 times after reboot). After that there was a phase where it only worked on one computer. Now it no longer works on any computer.

On the Win10 computer that was the most reliable:

Plugin and device is not recognized.

In the device manager the device status gives

Quote

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

A request for the USB device descriptor failed.

This is true for all ports on the PC, with the OEM cable.
