Analog Discovery 2 frequently yields "no device detected" error

Approximately half the times I plug the Analog Discovery 2 into my (PC) laptop, the WaveForms software cannot detect the device. The same happens on my research advisor's Mac. Of course we have both tested and confirmed that it is not our USB ports that are faulty.

What is more worrisome is that, in the middle of usage of the software, the device will occasionally become not detected and unusable again suddenly. 

Any suggestions?

Probably there is a contact issue. Try using the original USB cable or other microUSB cables you have at hand.

Also make sure the VCP is unchecked, see:

Thank you so much for your suggestions!!!! We are using the original USB cable that came with the device.

And this is the window for properties for the undetected device. I do not see the "Advanced" tab or a VCP checkbox as I see in the screenshots from your linked post.

Such intermittent errors could be caused by contact issue on the USB lines (data+/- or supply/gnd). Try using other cable, port, hub...
