  1. Hi Attila,

This is amazing, thank you for creating this pass / fail masks this will be an awesome feature for automotive diagnostics.

I'm just so impressed with how quickly you are able to turn things around and waveforms is the only software that I'm aware of in which you are actually able to submit enhancements and ideas and they are implemented in sometimes a couple of days or less it's just unheard of.

    You are a prodigy developer.

  2. Hi JColvin,

What I mean is that there would be an option within Wave Forms in which you could upload the waveform to the cloud and that would be accessible to others via a direct link.

and also there would be a library which you could upload the wave form to the cloud that would be accessible to other members.  It would be nice to be able share automotive wave forms or even other wave forms with other diligent users in a library.

    Thank you

    Jon Dieter

  3. Can you please have it so in WaveForms we have Pass / Fail Masks on the Waveforms.

For example, like the following below can something like this be setup in the software.

From Rigol can this be created in WaveForms

Benefits of Pass Fail measurements and how to set them up (site.com)

Benefits of Pass Fail measurements and how to set them up

    Dec 11, 2019•Knowledge

You can use Pass/Fail measurements for a number of applications. With Rigol scopes you can set it up to stop or continue when there is a failure or a pass, you can set the output to be the speaker or
through the optically isolated output on the rear of several models or both, you can create masks with varying error budgets around a target signal, and you can even use the record mode to record all the failures as frames. In this way, you could set up a test over night, let it run, and come back and have all the failure states recorded for you.

This  procedure uses a DS1000Z series scopes and will be similar to other Rigol scopes:

Push UTIL and then push PASS/FAIL.

Set Enable to ON, automatically a mask will be created.

To adjust the mask to the signal you want to test press the Range soft key and adjust the X Mask and Y MASK similar to the image below. The idea here is to design a space where the signal is not expected to enter. This space is represented by the blue background portion of the display. As X and Y is adjusted you will see the signal bracketed by a white border. When you are satisfied with the mask you have adjusted push the soft Create key. The resultant mask should look similar to this:

  4. Confused why the AD3 addin modules don't have protective cases.  For example the analog.board for the AD2/3 has an open circuit board.  I"m using the AD3 analog board for automotive diagnostics and want to be able to put this in a diagnostic bag. I don't have a 3d printer to make such a protective case.  I would think students would damage these addin boards because there again is no protective case.  There should be provided protective cases with the addin or available for purchase.  This would make the products more durable.  Including making potective case for the AD3 with rubber bumpers so that this scope can be used for automotive work.

  5. Persistence when displaying multiple waveforms cuts off and displays only 5-7 waveforms. Is it possible so that it whatever buffer # is just saved in persistence so it displays all the waveforms maybe you can scroll or VCR buttons to navigate to get to more waveforms before they get cutoff?

This would allow us to see more waveforms at a time vs the 5-7 waveforms that display and get cut off.

Please see the attached picture of what happens.

    Thank you

  6. I'm outputting a 1KHz Sinewave from the wavegenerator and feeding into channel 1 of the scope.

I then attempt to record to file and no matter what I do it converts the sinewave to a square wave and is not even the same amplitude.

    What am I doing wrong?

    image.thumb.png.2a9aa8a17b86da2ac893227c81a730d2.png

This is what its doing to the wave file which is supposed to be a sinewave at a 1 volt scale.

But look at what its doing

Also whenever I try to use bin it never works it totally messes up the wave form as well.

Also when I try the record option in WaveForms it only saves for 1 second and stops.   Isn't it supposed to record for awhile.

For example below when I select the record option it runs for a second and stops.  what am I doing wrong.

  7. Hi Attila,

For the custom probes can you please the equation and custom tables that PicoScope use this would help setup custom probes.

    Custom Table:

    Hi @JonD

Do the Custom Probes need anything else than unit, attenuation and offset shift adjustment?
Under Option you can find "Channel Editor" where channels can be configured quickly. (I think I added this after your earlier question in this topic.)
You could also save project or workspace for different setups (probes, views... ). This may be more useful than having custom probe option.

Segments Display, are you looking for the View/Persistence ?
Persistence is also available in XY and XYZ view, and Spectrum Analyzer.

Peak Detect, Channel # / Sample Mode: Min/Max

There are no plans yet for 4 Channel Affordable Scope, but newer WaveForms versions provide dual mode which lets you control 2 identical devices at the same time. See the Help tab/ Waveforms/Device manager and AD3/System frequency
4 scope channels are available in ADP3450, EclypseZ7 with 2 Scope, Digitizer... Zmods

  8. Custom Probes Needed in WaveForms

I see that Automotive Measurements was added to Waveform which is really nice feature.  I really think there needs to be custom probes option or to even download preconfigured probes from the Cloud.   In Automotive there are a ton of different probes with different settings and the current software appears to be very limited.   For example PicoScope allows for Custom Probes and to even to do a custom table for settings for probes.   Also HScope allows to do custom probes.  I wish there was labels that could be assigned to the custom probes as well.  For Example how would I setup the PS16 pressure transducer from Rotkee Ukraine Company with current setup in Waveform.

    Segments Display

I see that Rigol Scopes have the ability to do segmented display of wave forms or multiple wave forms stacked near each other.  This would be an awesome feature to have in Wave Forms to see a bunch of wave forms at the same time.

    Peak Detect

Is it possible to have it so that it can detect glitches like the Snap-on Scope Peak detect as well.  Could something like this be built into the software.  It seems like my Analog Discovery 3 has more capability then the Snap-on Scope M4 Versus Edge.

    4 Channel Affordable Scope

Is there any consideration for building an affordable 4 channel scope in the form factor of the Analog Discovery 3.

A case for the Analog Discovery 3 breakout box that has two channel analog and wave form generator.

I'm using this for automotive use and the breakout box that has the 2 channel scope and 2 channel waveforms is unprotected and you just see the circuit board.  This is not friendly for automotive use at all.  While it looks neat.   I don't have a 3rd printer so I'm not able make my own.

    Hi @JonD @Derek Eder

I'm planning something for automotive measurements once I have a clear idea of what is needed.
How about having custom grids with options for 720, cylinders... ? this instead of the default 10x10

    image.png

Hi Attila,  I'm not sure what you mean by adding a custom grid.  The cylinder labels kind of act like a cursor overlay that can be automatically adjusted or resized.  For example a 4 cylinder car wouldnhave four lines or one line per cylinder.  Also it.should allow you to change the cylinder labels baes on firing order.  For example firing order of a four cylinder might be 1,3,2,4.  The 720 degree for compression is also an adjustable cursor that has degee markers for intake compression exhaust.

I have the same interests as you JonD and hope some developers write some automotive diagnostic routines for data capture and display.

    Hi Derek,

I ended up going with an HS502 Oscilliscope.that. is.12 bit and.has rulers for 720 degree and cylinders.  I'm just unsure if Digilent will pursue the auto.otive side it would.be.awesome.if.they did because its 14 bits and would probably produce excellent.wave.forms

    Hi @JonD @Derek Eder

Thank you for your posts and mails.

Which option would be better ? to tweak the cursors or to have separate view, similar to the Eye Pattern ?

    image.png

    Hi Atila,

It would be nice if these were.defined as as overlays as the cursors have.no labels. For example for measuring.relative compresison on cars and trucks it would nice to have a 720 degree overlay.  Also an overlay for cylinder labels that.would have configureable firing order.  For example cylinder 1 3 2 4 These two features would make the Analog Discovery 3 very appealing.to the DIY mechanic and even mobile professional mechanics.  Also having configureable probes for current clamps and.secomdary ignition would be awesome.  You could reach an entire community for auto.diagnostics.  I wish Waveforms had these features and I wish I had An Analog Discovery 3. Thank you JonD.

  12. Does the Analog Discovery 2 & 3 have 14 bit hardware vertical resolution.

Can the Analog Discovery do reference waveforms.

Has anyone used Analog discovery for automotive diagnostics.  Can it display cylinder labels.  Can it do 720 degrees for compression measurements.

Can you make your own custom probes in the software.

Are square and sine waves noisy with Analog discovery.
