San
Hi, I am new to the Pmod USBUART. I read the reference manual but not sure if the Pmod USBUART can support 5V UART signals. Does any one know? Thank you.
D@n
@San, I'm pretty sure the PModUSBUART can only handle 3.3V signals. The power within the USB cable is a 5V supply, but the signaling wires are all 3.3V. Dan
JColvin
Hi @San, In theory the FTDI chip within the Pmod USBUART would be able to support 5V signals, but in reality, as @D@n mentioned, all of the signaling wires are at 3.3V since the 3.3V output regulator within the FTDI chip is tied to the VCCIO pin. The board could be modified to support 5V signals, but you would be voiding the warranty if you choose to do that. Thanks, JColvin
