Analog Discovery oscilloscope waveform plot

Question

Hi,

I am trying to analyze a weak photoplethysmography signal using the oscilloscope feature of Analog Discovery. I am seeing an additional shadow plot in the background of the actual signal. I am curious what does the background plot indicate? I didn't find any information regarding this in your manuals. Please see the attached figure.

Thanks,

Raj

Dear Rajbex,

What you are seeing is the noise of the signal. Waveforms is probably just filtering out all the unnecessary spikes from the signal to make it look more clean. You can turn off the background signal if you would like. All you have to do is go to the channel the signal is coming from and click the options buttons. You'll see a drop down window with multiple options. Find the noise option and then change the value to 0%. I hope this helps and if you have any other questions let us know!

Best Regards,

Bobby
