Analog Discovery 2 high temperature

Austin Gosling

Question

I've connected my AD2 to an external 5VDC power supply, and it is drawing about 1.1A while disconnected from any external circuits. This cured the overcurrent status and low USB voltage (~4.0) I was having while running only off USB.

However, WaveForms status is now HT (high temperature), running about 71 - 72 degC.

Is this expected? At what temperature should I be concerned with damaging it?

Update - after being connected to AUX 5VDC for about an hour, the temperature went up to 88 degC and it disconnected from WaveForms.

After letting it cool down, I reconnected via USB only - no AUX supply - and it is back to the state I originally got it in (see other post). It will only connect in mode 4 (no analog).

It now tells me to connect the AUX power, but when I do, the current shoots up to 1.3A.

I suspect something is deeply wrong with this unit.

Any ideas?

As far i know this post was handled through support email and got replaced.

Well, I have requested a replacement from support by email, but have had no reply yet. I figured the holiday season might slow things down. I don't know the procedure. I purchased it from mouser.de in Germany.
