Using JTAG-SMT2 to configure Intel/Altera CPLD

I have a design with many Xilinx FPGAs in a JTAG chain and everything works well with the JTAG-SMT2 module.  I have another design that needs a CPLD for some glue logic that is sophisticated enough and the power supply constraints are such that I ended up with an Altera part.  There is not a similar device available for Intel/Altera parts.  I don't need to do Signal Tap or anything complicated that would require the use of Quartus.  Is it possible to configure an Altera CPLD from Impact using a JTAG-SMT2?  Maybe there is a file conversion utility?

Hi @ninaleechie,

No it’s not possible to configure an Altera part with iMPACT or any other Xilinx tools. The only way to configure it with the JTAG-SMT2 is to write your own custom application or find another 3rd party application that does it using the Adept SDK.

cheers,

Jon
