You will need to have or purchase something like this, a Standard USB A to micro-B cable. The cable must do both power and data. You do not need an external power supplier to use the Arty. Here is out Github with has some projects and a template for the Arty. We just upgraded to Vivado/SDK 2016.4 from Vivado 2015.4.
