External Power supply on the AD3

jcanion

Question

Hi

I am designing a basic class A  amp- single stage.

The VCC = 12V

Any recommendation of using a 12V brick mounted on my bread board, I have not been able to locate one

Thanks J

Located a vendor that sells the -/+ 12brick

It a Diligent design

Their Disty's stock them.

Hi @jcanion,

The 12 V variant of the PowerBRICK could be powered by the +5 V supply of the Analog Discovery 3 to then provide both +12 V and -12 V to other components on a breadboard. The output current for each rail is 100 mA, but if you are just needing a 12 V reference so that your amplifier does not clip on the edges then this should be okay.

At the very least it cheaper than getting an Analog Discovery Studio which has +/- 12 V as one of its fixed rail supplies, and probably less janky than getting an entirely separate wall wart 12 V power supply and an adapter for the barrel end.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
JColvin

We purchased an A/D 3. Are there any tutorials on how to display a BODE plot?

For Low-frequency and High-frequency response for a CE amplifier.

Thanks for your time, Jeff

Hi @jcanion,

The Network Analyzer instrument has a Bode plot as its default view. The Help tab has built-in documentation on all of the different settings:

There is also a tutorial version on using the Network Analyzer on the Digilent Reference site here: https://digilent.com/reference/test-and-measurement/guides/waveforms-network-analyzer, which is also listed on the Analog Discovery 3 Resource Center here: https://digilent.com/reference/test-and-measurement/analog-discovery-3/start#tutorials.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
JColvin

Are there any tutorials on setting a counter with the Logic Analyzer?

For example, we're setting up a decade counter (7490) and a BCD (7447) seven-segment display.

For decade counter (clk) input, set a 1Hz and the Q0-3 as outputs.

Please advise when you have time.

Thanks

Jeff
