They were intended for use on a breadboard. Your socket is an Augat one, with high quality machined sockets for maximum 0.43mm circular pins. The ones in CMOD A7 are most likely cheap square 0.64x0.64mm pins. I think two 24 positions headers will be better for a custom made PCB. Digikey part:  S7022-ND
