Help unable to connect instacal to LabVIEW.

AmandaS

Question

We are currently in the installation process and are having difficulty getting Instacal off the Demo settings. It is registering the USB and we have run test that prove AL-EXP32 and instacal are responding to each other. However, under universal serial bus it is only displaying the demo board. We have tried unplugging and plugging it back in, removing the board on instacal and reinstalling it, and deleting the demo board from the PC board panel. We have installed the USB on instacal exactly as the instructions and video have shown. Is there a process in LabVIEW or in instacal that we are supposed to follow to have the two communicate to each other?  is there a way to change the Demo to USB under universal serial bus? or is there an authorization code we need to purchase to have instacal get off of demo setting?

Remove the Demo device because it is not needed. You will, however, need to install our ULx for NI LabVIEW support if you haven't already done so.

If you're using the USB connection, refresh or restart InstaCal. You should get a popup indicating it found your TC-32 device - click okay to add it to the board list. If you're using Ethernet, click the add board icon, and on the dialog that appears, choose ENET and select it from the available devices list. Once it's listed in InstaCal's board list, double-click it to bring up the Configuration panel to change the network settings and choose thermocouple types for each channel. Once you've completed the configuration, close the InstaCal utility and start LabVIEW. If you need to change the InstaCal configuration, you can restart LabVIEW; otherwise, it won't recognize the recent changes.

I've attached a simple VI demonstrating reading the first four channels, assuming it's board number zero.

this has already been done. we are able run a test and see that InstaCal and the USB are fully connected. we have run thermocouple test that in InstaCal that display the two are connected. and we have already purchased and installed ULx for NI LabVIEW.

Is it correct to say that InstaCal has assigned board number zero to the TC-32, and nothing else is listed, such as a Demo board? If so, close InstaCal, start-up LabVIEW and run the myTC32Example.vi that's attached to my previous message. It reads channels 0 - 3 so they should have a thermocouple attached.

The problem is that I don't understand the problem. I added both the TC-32 and a DEMO device to InstaCal and can read thermocouples with the example I provided. Could you explain what you mean by being stuck on the demo setting? Please include a picture.
