Can Zmod board be used to build an electrical nerve stimulator test design?

exsurgo_ankit

Question

Hello

I checkout out the Zmod AWG that can be used with a host board as an arbitary waveform generator.

Would it possible to build an electrical nerve stimulator that can output pulses with following specifications:

1. Pulse width: 100 uSec to 2 mSec

2. Frequency range: 10 - 40 Hz

3. Output voltage range: 20 - 40 V

4. Out current range: 1 mA - 5 mA with step increases of 500 uA

All suggestions welcome.

Regards

Hi @exsurgo_ankit

Not out of the box - the high range mode of the Zmod AWG is +-5 V. Output current may also not meet your spec. Refer to the AWG reference manual and the AD9717 datasheet for more info: https://digilent.com/reference/zmod/awg/reference-manual#arbitrary_waveform_generatorhttps://www.analog.com/en/products/ad9717.html

Your pulse width and frequency range is achievable, either with a custom HDL design, or with something like the WaveForms software support for Eclypse Z7.

Thanks,

Arthur
