Seeking Assistance: VGA Driving on Nexys 4 FPGA Board without DDR

Question

Hello everyone,

I hope you're doing well.

I am relatively new to FPGA programming and currently seeking assistance regarding VGA driving on the Nexys 4 board without DDR. Specifically, I'm trying to utilize the external storage, CellularRAM, as the frame buffer for my project. I am using the microblaze system for this implementation.

Despite my efforts, I have encountered some challenges after exploring various approaches. I have considered options like the AXI-TFT-Controller IP core or VDMA, but most of them are tailored for configurations involving DDR. As an alternative, I replaced the MIG+DDR setup with EMC+RAM, but unfortunately, I faced issues with either distorted display output or no display at all.

Immensely grateful for your assistance.
