MBinger
I am curious if the USB-1608GX is suitable for use with load cells. I am attempting to measure the force of a contact that occurs over a duration of 10's of microseconds.
0 DAQman
Hello, If you have a typical load cell, the output is too small for the USB-1608GX to measure accurately. The average load cell reading is less than 20 mV. It would be best to have a signal conditioner to amplify the signal. However, it must have a wide bandwidth if the signal is present for only 10uS. The USB-1616HS is a better choice for a device because it has a 100 mV range and is faster than the USB-1608GX. It can run a single channel at 1M S/s, which would net you ten samples for the 10uS contact closure. Best regards, John
0 MBinger
John, That is a very helpful suggestion, thank you. Is there a particular load cell brand that MCC products work well with?
0 DAQman
Many of our customers buy load cells from Omega: https://www.omega.com/en-us/resources/load-cells.
