Hi,

I have a use case where I need to distinguish between two HS3 programmers.

Both are detected with the name JtagHs3.

Is there a way to change this string in non-volatile memory?

Yes it is possible to change the user name of the device, though I do not think this user name shows up in the Vivado Hardware Manager, at least from what I understand; I am not sure if that is an issue for you.

Regardless, this can be done through Adept SDK (https://digilent.com/reference/software/adept/start) with the DmgrSetInfo command, where you will want to change dinfoUsrName. As per dpcdecl.h, this value is limited to 16 bytes.
