When trying to install Personal DAQview software on a Windows 10 pc, the device driver installation is skipped.  Is there something that can be done to overcome this problem?

Hello,

I've have not heard of the installation program skipping the driver installation. You can check if the files got installed. Look for C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\pdaq.sys and C:\Windows\System32\pdaq.dll and C:\Windows\System32\pdaqx.dll.  If you have these files, the driver is installed.

Assuming you have the above files, plug in the PersonalDaq/56 and watch the green LED. If it goes off after 20 seconds or so, your computer's USB may need to be upgraded. We usually see this on older computers that were upgraded to Windows 10. Sometimes, you can get updates from the manufacture that fixes the situation. Even my new Dell Latitude had a problem until applied all the patches from DELL.

Best regards,

John

HI John,

Thank you for the response.  FYI, we have completed all of the updates on the Lenovo ThinkCentre pc and then run the install.

The results did install the .dll files however the C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\pdaq.sys failed to install.

Is there any other way to install the device drivers?

Can we simply copy the files to the proper folder, etc?

Thanks again,

Rob

Hello @Rob Caruso.

If the pdaq.sys driver file was saved to your local folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Personal DaqView\Drivers\USB_x64), then connect your PersonalDaq/56 to the USB port and launch Windows' Device Manager.   Right click on the 'unknown device' and select 'update driver'.  Browse to and select the 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Personal DaqView\Drivers\USB_x64' folder.

You can also reference the following article's suggested steps for a possible solution.

Lastly, if your systems are managed by your company's IT dept., then they may have specific security settings preventing the driver installation.
