The Arty-A7 35T can not power on via USB

Hello,

The power from a typical USB port is not sufficient to power the Arty A7 and because of this, you do need to use the external power supply. On the the other hand, if you do not need the USB port for programming and communication, you could obtain a USB power supply capable of 1 amp or more of current @ 5 volts.

hm mine A7 works fine off USB cable

I misread the specifications. The user manual does indicate USB power is okay.

The USB port can deliver enough power for the vast majority of designs. However, a few demanding applications, including any that drive multiple peripheral boards, might require more power than the USB port can provide. Also, some applications may need to run without being connected to a PC’s USB port. In these instances an external power supply or battery pack can be used.

The other explanation could be a damaged IC13 NCP380 power distribution switch.
