Debug as (non applicable) in Xilinx SDK

The Better Conrad

Question

Hello! I'm very new to FPGA and am only using vivado for a class project. I've created a design on the zybo-z7-20 that uses Digilent's PMOD IP's. After launching the SDK and programming the fpga when I attempt to debug, there is no option to run on hardware. Any reason why this might be?

Also this warning shows up in the XSCT console, I have no idea if its relevant.

Sorry if I'm leaving out important information, let me know if you need more.

Thanks,

The Better Conrad

Hi @The Better Conrad,

When you built the project in SDK/Vitis, did you build it as Release or as Debug? What version of the Xilinx software are you using and did you install Digilent board files?

In terms of intended design flow, Digilent has a guide here, https://digilent.com/reference/programmable-logic/guides/getting-started-with-ipi (a link to the older guide that uses SDK is linked at the end of the Requirements section, though the flow is the same, just with different screenshots). Pmods can be added into the Block Design through the same process that is described for adding LEDs or other connections through the Board tab.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
JColvin
