Analog Discovery 2

Venu

Question

Hi,

Please help clarifying the following:

1.AD2  support single ended input?

2.What's the record length?

3.Is there any Built in self test?

4.What's the calibration methodology?

5.AD2 is built on AD9648,which has differential analog input with 650 MHz bandwidth. But the Actual BW is 30 MHz with BNC..Can you help us understand?

Regards,

Venu

Hi @Venu

1. To make from the differential oscilloscope inputs single ended connect the negative input to ground.
2. For 8-16ki samples/channel up to 100MHz, 200Mi-1T with the WaveForms app at up to about 1MHz or unlimited with custom application.
3. On software connection to the device the communication with digital ICs is tested. A complete test can be quickly performed with a loopback wire, generating and capturing some signal.
4. See: https://digilent.com/reference/test-and-measurement/guides/waveforms-calibration
5. See the end of this section: https://digilent.com/reference/test-and-measurement/analog-discovery-2/hardware-design-guide#analog_section

Hi Attila,

Regarding input voltage range, I see that, it supports +- 50V..Our requirement is 80V input range.

1.Can 80V be achieved through this design? Do we need any external circuitry?

Regards,

Other questions:

2.Can we get the output of ADC to a external connector through I/O?

3.Out put of ADC is differential?

4.What are the digital I/O levels?(ex:LVDS etc)?

5.Are there other modules to use it as Oscilloscope ,which gives the output of ADC?(use a connector/cable to interface with other module)

Regards,

Venu

Hi @Venu

1. Above 50V is a different device class. You could use probe or 1M series resistor, with few pF cap or trimmer for compensation. The app instruments let you specify attenuation, like it would be 2X with 1M.
2. Currently it is not supported for TM products. Hope to have such feature with newer and next gen devices.
3. The AD2's Scope inputs/ADC is differential but not floating.
4. For AD2 LVCMOS3V3 but provides configuration for 0.5V input logic threshold. On Digital Discovery and ADP3X50 the DIO voltage is adjustable.
5. Se the Eclypse Z7 Zmod development board.
