WaveForms in Demo mode generate dummy data for Logic Analyser?

Hi,

I am considering buying a "Digital Discovery" to replace a cheap chinese unit that I bought some years ago that is controlled by the freeware program "PulseView". This program is not really very good when it comes to trigger functions and what I know as "pre-roll", that is recording samples up to the trigger point rather than recording after the trigger point.

Anyway, I am currently evaluating the WaveForms software in Demo Mode to see if it does some of the things I miss in the above mentioned but I can't work out how to get some dummy data in the view window.

Without some data I'm getting a bit confused about zooming in/out on the data. I've set the Sample Rate to 100MHz and I've seen that I can use the mouse scroll wheel to "zoom" but I don't quite understand why the Base: and Rate: boxes change their values?

Any advice/thoughts would be gratefully accepted

Hi @PhilipJ

The Repeated and Scan Screen/Shift modes work similar to oscilloscope, for short signals and timing investigation.
The Record mode works as a traditional logic analyzer.
