Programming Flash of the CMODS6 freezes at 0% (Xilinx ISE 14.5 iMPACT)

Question

Hello all,

I tried to ask this question on the Xilinx site but I was redirected to ask the Digilent community for a help.

I read already through a few forums to make the Xilinx ISE iMPACT with the CMODS6 working on my PC.
My issue is that I cant program FLASH memory located on the CMODS6, but FPGA by itself I can program.

So far, I have installed full ISE 14.5. on Windows 7 and also all drivers and tools I could find for
the CMODS6 (except the default installed with ISE)

  • Adept Digilent tool - I am also able to program a .bit file into CMODS6 (FPGA)
  • I tried to copy and replace ISE's .dlls with .dlls explicitly available for CMODS6
  • I tried to reinstall ISE as well as only tried standalone Lab Tools (iMPACT)
  • and many other tips from forums ...

All in one, once I try to program the CMODS6 FLASH (iMPACT), with steps working on our school's PC:

  • Create PROM File - Auto select PROM - generate MCS
  • Add device by choosing generated .bit file
  • Generate File
  • Boundary Scan - adding .bit file
  • Add SPI/BPI flash .mcs file by right click above my device (dashed rectangle)
  • Select correct SPI PROM - S25FL128S
  • Run "Program" (on the FLASH icon - programming FLASH)

the process gets stuck when "Programming FLASH" ... with progress 0%

I repeat, that exactly the physically same CMODS6 fully works on other W7-PC
with ISE 14.5. and programming  of the CMODS6 flash takes on this machine 3-4 minutes.

Anybody knows, how to fix this ?

Thanks and good luck with your challenges,
Vladimir
