FDwfAnalogOutNodeFrequencyInfo range not the same as in waveforms

ElectroTech425

Question

When I use the FDwfAnalogOutNodeFrequencyInfo function, I get 100uHz as minimum and 100Mhz as maximum value. So the configurable frequency range for the Analog Discovery 2 should be around 100uHz - 100Mhz.

This value differs from the range I can select in the waveforms application.

So I checked the output with the minimum and maximum values and it looks like the real configurable range is from 1uHz to 25Mhz, like it is in the application.

Is this an error or some sort of configuration I don't fully understand?

Thank you

Hi @ElectroTech425

The 100MHz maximum is the DAC sample rate. You can use this for Random (noise) output.
For a signal it needs at least 4 samples so the maximum signal rate is 25MHz.
Note the 0.5dB BW is 4MHz and 3dB above 12MHz.

The returned minimum is a recommended value.
It can go much lower, down to the resolution of 5.421pHz but I don't think anyone would need a period of 172000 years.
Below 10uHz (with 4k carrier buffer) the FM will start loose resolution.
