HS3 causes Vivado Hardware Manager to hang

Hi,

Has anyone ever had the issue of the HS3 causing Vivado Hardware Manager to hang when refreshing probes? When I program the FPGA (a Kintex-7 on a PCIe card in a mobile PC), and the hardware manager is refreshing the probes for a System ILA, I can hear the fans in my workstation go to max, and I think the CPU usage hits ~100% and the mouse and keyboard become unresponsive.

I get this happening about once or twice a day, and it requires me to power cycle my workstation to restore functionality.

Hi @darin,

I have not seen the JTAG-HS3 cause any type of hangup like you describe.  

I would suggest enabling error logging and see if that provides any useful information. How to enable logging is described in these sections from the changelog:

1. Added the ability to enable error logging by setting the

       "ADEPT_RT_LOGDETAIL" environment variable to a value greater than

       or equal to '1'. Presently all values greater than '0' result in the

       same output to the log file. Future revision may include the ability

       to output additional debug information by setting different error

       levels.

    2. Added the ability to specify the path to the error log file by

       setting the "ADEPT_RT_LOGFILE" environment variable. If error

       logging is enabled and the path has been specified then any errors

       that occur will be logged to the specified file. If error logging is

       enabled and the "ADEPT_RT_LOGFILE" environment variable has not been

       set then any errors that occur will be logged to a file named

       "DebugErc.log", which will be created under the application's

       current working directory.

Those settings don't appear to do anything on my system:

ADEPT_RT_LOGDETAIL    1

ADEPT_RT_LOGFILE          C:\HS3.log

Hi @darin,

To clarify,  You set the ADEPT_RT_LOGDETAIL to 1 but the DebugErc.log was not created?
