Need Help on JTAG-SMT2 device

Nagendra

Question

Posted

Hi,

I am going to use JTAG-SMT2 device for configuration of Spartan 6 LX150 device.

I have the following questions for which i need the answers from this forum:

1. Whether JTAG-SMT2 device can be used for Spartan 6 LX150 device or not?

2. What pin i need to use as VIO in the case of Spartan 6 LX150 device? There are no VIO pins available on S6LX150 device?

3. What should be the voltage values needed for the VIO pin?

Please answer.

Thanks and regards,

Nagendra

Hi Nagendra,

You should be able to use the JTAG-SMT2 to program your device. The VIO pin is the signal voltage pin and should be routed to a VREF pin on your FPGA. I found a datasheet that has the pinout of your device here http://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/user_guides/ug385.pdf . The VIO voltage value can be anything between -.5 to 3.75 V according to this datasheet http://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/data_sheets/ds162.pdf (obviously not too low if you're in a noisy environment!) so I would probably just stick with 3.3V.

Hope this helps!

Tommy
