awef
Hi there. I was wondering if the STL or say Fusion 3D (for example) files for the OpenScope MZ were posted publicly somewhere. Would love to save time and just print one out if possible.
Kristoff
Hey awef, You can get the 3D printer files on the right side of the OpenScope MZ landing page in the Design Resources section. Let us know if you have any questions about those. Thanks! -Kristoff
awef
Aha! I was looking for the word "Case" but it says "Enclosure". It all makes sense now!
Kristoff
To be fair I just added it to the landing page after seeing your post. I was struggling to word it correctly and get it to fit in the space. I just changed it to '3D Printable Case' which I like better Let us know how the print goes when you get a chance to test it out. -Kristoff

awef
So printing went well. The USB connector is a bit "high" (board peeking through) but USB connector still is able to reach the socket. The openscope logo got torn off when removing the raft (my printer needs a raft) Other than that the fit is great. Buttons/top/bottom all went together well. I see a lot of good though has been put into the design of the case. I would like to learn how it was made. Do know if the source files might be available for tweaking/learning? Kristoff
Glad to hear the print went well. I'll check on the design source files and let you know. I'll also point Daniel (our Mech E that designed the case) to this thread, so let us know if you have any questions about the design. Daniel also just designed a plexi case that I really like:
awef
I was just thinking, I have some clear PLA. I wonder if it could print a light pipe. I don't have time to design it right now but it seems like the only minor missing piece
aaronneal
Hi Kristoff , is it possible to get access to the plexi glass case files? It's much quicker to make than a 3D printed version. Cheers
Kristoff
Hey awef, I'll have Daniel comment on the light pipes. He may have design files for them already. I've also seen surprisingly good results using hot glue as a light pipe. aaronneal, yes, we will be posting those soon. -Kristoff
Kristoff
Hey, I just posted the case design files (including light pipes) on the OpenScope MZ resource center. Plexi design files should be posted in the next couple days. -Kristoff
