Evein
Hi! New here . I am trying to use a USB isolator with the following max ratings: 2.5W (500mA at 5V) Output Power from External Input Supply (VCC = 8.6V to 16.5V) 1W (200mA at 5V) Output Power from USB Bus Supply (VBUS) I am trying to find max current or voltage supply that my isolator needs to provide to AD2 for it to operate at minimum and or at optimum performance. Thank you very much!
0 JColvin
Hi @Evein, The Analog Discovery 2 needs at least 2 W / 400 mA to work when powered over USB. When initially powering up the device, the current draw is higher (500 mA, as per the initial post here: https://forum.digilent.com/topic/35-analog-discovery-troubleshooting/). When actually using the device, the required amount of current will vary of course depending how heavily you are using the device (using the programmable power supplies, analog output, digital pins set to output their small amount of current, etc). There is some additional information about the USB supplies on the AD2 here: https://digilent.com/reference/test-and-measurement/analog-discovery-2/hardware-design-guide#usb_power_control. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, JColvin
