Questions when using USB-1608G or 1608FS-Plus products in a Linux environment

shyang

Question

I have some questions before purchasing the USB-1608G or USB-1608FS-Plus product.

The PC environment used is as follows;

. OS: Ubuntu 17.10 32bit

- Kernel version: 3.14.44

- USB: USB3.0 (2 ports), USB2.0 (6 ports)

question

1. Both products (1608G, 1608FS-plus) support Linux. Can they be used in Ubuntu 17.10 32bit environment?

2. It seems that there is no data streaming function in terms of H/W. Do I need to process it programmatically? (e.g., save the sampled data at high speed and transmit it to an external device at a 10ms cycle).

3. Is it possible to use analog input and digital input together?

thank you

Our first release of uldaq for Linux happened when Ubuntu 18.04 was the current version. Ubuntu 17.10 would likely work, but you should update your libusb support.

Use the ulAinScan function to configure a continuous streaming acquisition. Refer to the AInScan.c example program.

Neither the USB-1608G nor the USB-1608FS-Plus have digital IO streaming. If you need only a couple of digital input bits, consider the USB-1808X because it supports the ulDaqInScan function to simultaneously stream analog and digital input. If you require more than four bits, you could use a second device and share clocks. Two devices that support digital streaming are USB-CTR04 and USB-DIO32HS.
