CANbus communication

CANdoo

Question

Enquiring whether CAN communication is possible in terms of displaying values on a PC SCADA.

Firstly,

If I have a CAN controller with a CAN output that is fed into a CAN to LAN converter and then over the IP network to a LAN to CAN converter with USB output, can the Digilent PC based SCADA decode the CAN signals and display the relevant data via this USB?

Secondly,

Can you operate screen buttons to remote operate the controller via the CAN -IP-CAN network the other way?

Iam assuming a CAN-LAN, LAN-CAN converter can set it's send and receive address (any suggestions on make/types?) and that the Digilent SCADA can decode the CAN frames into usable data to be displayed - or am I asking to much?

Our DASYLab software supports IXXAT, Kvaser, National Instruments, Peak, and Vector CAN interfaces. Assuming you have a supported interface, DASYLab has buttons, switches, and various displays to create a user interface. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to support CAN applications as we don't have any of the equipment. However, you can download and run the software in trial mode to see if it will work. Of course, this assumes your LAN-to-CAN and CAN-to-LAN conversion is seamless.

Thanks JRys, we will obtain 2 CAN to LAN converters and build a test rig with our CAN controllers, as we have two Peak adapters already and some CAT5E/6 cable and with the trial download we will get it working.
