Make HIDRegUpdater.exe work without Admin rights

Question

Posted

Hi, Is there any way to make the HIDRegUpdater work without Admin rights? For example assigning permissions to the registry or something like that? Any ideas would be appreciated as having to get I.T to enter the password every time is inconvenient Thanks, Rob H Murata Power Solutions

Hello @rhummel36.

The HIDRegUpdater program scans the target system's HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Enum\\USB\\ directory for devices with the MCC Vendor ID (0x09DB) and various Product IDs that are passed on from InstaCal.  These MCC devices will only be present in the registry if they have been plugged into the user’s system.  The HIDRegUpdater program is only run on certain older MCC Product IDs.  Also, the EnhancedPowerManagementEnabled key should be set to 0.

Fausto
