Using a USB-231 Counter with an encoder

I am trying to use the counter input on a USB-231 DAQ to measure the pulse from a rotary encoder.

I tried connecting the encoder common to the ground terminal, +VDC to the +VO terminal, and the encoder signal output to the counter, but didn't show any response using DAQAmi

I am planning to use DAQAmi for my data collection.

Hello @AS_ME.

As stated in the USB-231 User's Guide, "the CTR terminal is a 32-bit counter that can count rising edges. Edges can only be counted up from 0. Counting down is not supported."  Pulse width measurement is not supported on the USB-231.  Consider the USB-CTR Series or the USB-1808X or USB-1604HS-2AO.
