How to use external sync signal for AD devices?

Hi everyone, we are using matlab and Analog discovery 2 in our radar system to sample the received IF signals. Generally, the ADC has to be synchronized with the radar system, otherwise, there would be a phase ambiguity or offset that causes problems in digital domain.  

Can we use an external clk signal (which comes from radar system source) for AD to sync with the radar system?

By the way, AD is am amzing portable device and we like it. It would be perfect if it can work with external sync/CLK signal.

The Scope/ Time/ Options/ Sampling/ Clock available with most of the devices (AD1,2,3...) is just a sampling condition which can be asynchronous to the ADC.

Real reference clock IO is available for AD3, ADP3X50

Hi Attila, thank you for the detailed responses. We now have several AD2 and will try AD3 with external clk.
