Zybo Z7 10 Baremetal Demo No Response

wjwd

Question

Forgive me if this has been answered previously, but I could not find any posts that helped me. I'm simply trying to reproduce the "

Getting Started with Vivado and Vitis for Baremetal Software Projects" - https://digilent.com/reference/programmable-logic/guides/getting-started-with-ipi

I feel I've followed every step correctly, but I'm not getting any indications on the serial terminal nor from the leds on the board itself. I'm using Vitis Classic 2023.2 and Vivado 2023.2. Below are screenshots of diagram, constraints, code, and serial outputs:

I feel I must be missing something obvious, but I just can't figure it out for the life of me. Also for reference, I successfully completed the "Getting Started with Vivado for Hardware-Only Designs", so I don't believe it is hardware related.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

After trying to create my own version of a hello world, I finally figured it out. I had JP5 jumper installed on QSPI vice JTAG, I want to die.

For some reason my own hello world attempt threw me an error that was googlable enough to find the solution, but the demo version never gave me any sort of error. I'm having so much fun!

Thanks for sharing your solution - the "Rev B demo image" text indicates it's booting from flash. There's also some concern that the C sources provided in the baremetal software tutorial need to change for 2023.2, since the way that xparameters passes information to device drivers has changed, but it sounds like that's not the case in the Classic UI.

Thanks,

Arthur

Would also be worth considering adding a caveat that the steps provided are only applicable to the classic UI. As someone who is very green to all this, the new Vitis layout was not easily translatable for me, and it took me quite some time to discover the classic UI even exists let alone gets installed with everything else.
