IV Sweep for MOSFET on Analog Discovery 3

Anirud Durani

Question

Hi,

I am trying to do an IV sweep on a MOSFET I built in my lab. I am thinking of buying 2 Analog Discovery 3's for this. I intend to use one to sweep the Gate and one to sweep the Drain. I also need the oscilloscopes to be able to trace the curves. Would this be possible in this configuration? Or would I be able to use your Output channels to Source and Measure the Current and/or Voltage. I intend to make these two Analog Discovery 3's the main bench top units for a DC probe station that I am setting up in my lab. We currently have KEITHLEY 2600's that do the Source and Measure tasks, but they are very expensive and we are trying to get the cost down. If there is any way to make this work using your devices, it would be great! Also, is there a way for me to be able to control these Analog Discoveries using a script (maybe Python)? This would make it much easier for other people to replicate my work, since I could just share the code with them.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi @Anirud Durani

You could use the following adapter which has support in WaveForms application 'Tracer' instrument.
https://digilent.com/reference/test-and-measurement/transistor-tester-adapter/start

The Scope and AWG instruments can also be used for IV curves and for most of the devices the Power Supply IOs can be used as slow AWG, like for for higher drain current.

API is available for all T&M devices.
