BobA
Hi. I want to buy some connectors that match the ones used by the Digital Discovery (e.g. the 2x6 Flywires: Signal Cable Assembly for the Digital Discovery, SKU 240-119). What's the manufacturer and part number for those? Thank you.

0 BobA
Thanks, but I want is to order just the connector - just the plastic piece that plugs into the Digital Discovery - from a place like Digikey.
0 attila
Hi @BobA See a search filter for 2x6 2.54mm https://www.digikey.com/short/mrffpp30 The pin lengths are about 6mm, so an 'insulation height' of about 8-14 should be used... depending on the connector type. Also make sure the header is not to thick to fit in the case cutout.
0 BobA
My bigger concern is the size of the housing and polarization key. Molex connectors, for example, have thick walls on the sides and wider polarization keys. They won't fit in the DD's opening. Also, I want a connector that uses the same crimp pins that you're using. Someone must know the part number of that connector.
0 attila
Hi @BobA I can't find any connector with key but the thickness and length of 0.2/0.62 in should fit, in the Digital Discovery 2x6 hole of 0.26/0.65 inhttps://www.digikey.com/short/wph8rbh1

As far as I can tell this link is for board connectors only and we are looking for cable/wire connectors. I was only able to find single row MTE crimp connectors so I'm still looking. They're different: if you look closely, the pins they take are not compatible with each other. For example, I bought some of the Molex connectors, but the pins in the Digilent cable don't fit into them.

0 attila
Hi @BobA The first one in the list looks to fit, dimensions are less than 0.26x0.65inch 6.6x16.5mm: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/amphenol-cs-fci/65043-031LF/1002688 or this one with key: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/amphenol-cs-fci/69176-012LF/1002698
0 BobA
Yes, those Amphenols do look like it. And I bought a bunch of them from Digikey a week ago. But the pins on the Digilent cables don't go all the way into those Amphenol connectors, and there's a slightly different shape on the connector's pin latches. So whatever Digilent is using, it doesn't seem to be that Amphenol. Someone at Digilent must know what those connectors are!
0 attila
Hi @BobA female: Sullins PPTC062LJBN-RC male: Sullins PBC06DBAN
0 BobA
Thank you for sticking with me on this. But that's still not the right part. The female Sullins PPTC062LJBN-RC is a through-hole header that gets soldered onto a PCB. I'm looking for the part that's on the cable. Maybe if I explained what I'm trying to do, it would help. The flywire assembly has a 2x6 connector on one end, and 12 individual wire connectors on the other. I want to remove those individual connectors and insert the wires into another 2x5 connector. So the flywire assembly would be a 2x6 connector to a 2x5 connector (it's 2x5 instead of 2x6 because I don't need the VIO signals). I'll do the same thing with the large, 32 pin flywire assembly, so that it's a 2x16 connector on one end, and three 2x5 connectors on the other. Then, on the board I'm designing, I'll put 2x5 male headers. When I want to test something with the Digilent Discovery, I don't have to connect 12 individual wires to my board (and worry about getting them in the right order, and worry about them falling off). I'll just plug the modified flywire assembly into the DD on one side and my 2x5 header on the other. The problem is that I've removed the 12 individual wires from their individual connectors, with the pins still crimped on to them, but those pins don't fit in 2x5 Molex or 2x5 Amphenol connectors. So I need to know what 2x6 connector the Digilent flywire assembly is using.
