USB-TC Calibration Clarification

I needed some clarification on the thermocouple measurement accuracy table footnote on page 14 of the USB-TC User's Guide
(https://www.mccdaq.com/PDFs/Manuals/usb-tc.pdf). The note says,

"Thermocouple specifications include linearization, cold-junction compensation and system noise. These specs are for one year, or 3000 operating hours, whichever comes first and for operation of the device between 15 °C and 35 °C. For measurements outside this range, add ±0.5 degree to the maximum error shown. There are CJC sensors on each side of the module. The accuracy listed above assumes the screw terminals are at the same temperature as the CJC sensor. Errors shown do not include inherent thermocouple error. Please contact your thermocouple supplier for details on the actual thermocouple error."

  • Does this mean that the measurements made with the USB-TC need ±0.5 degrees added to the maximum error after:
  1. a year/3000 operating hours or
  2. if the device is outside the 15°C and 35 °C range or
  3. both 1. and 2.?
  • if the measurements need the added error range only for 2., what would the maximum error be after 1./3.?

This correction is added when the device is outside of the 15°C and 35 °C range.

We do not have specs for your #1 & #3 points. 

We recommend you contact your thermocouple supplier for details on the actual thermocouple error.  Depending on the vendor, the thermocouple error may be greater than the maximum error listed in the USB-TC guide's accuracy table.
