E-DIO24 connectivity

DeanMayo

Question

E-DIO24 connectivity: We would like to be able to set the static IP and use it on our network but so far we’re not able to even ping it on its default IP of 192.168.0.101.

The computer NIC has been setup to use this address.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, -Dean

Hello @DeanMayo.

Are you using a new E-DIO24, a previously used unit or one with an unknown history?

If you connect only the PS-5V1AEPS external power adapter that ships with the E-DIO24, does the top LED stay 'ON'?

Connect an ethernet cable from the Windows host system to the E-DIO24 unit.  Afterwards, restore the factory default network settings.  Press and hold the factory reset button for at least four seconds until both the Power and Activity LEDs blink.  When you release the button, the device starts up with network settings restored to the factory default values.  If you release the button before the two LEDs blink, the settings are not affected and the device starts up normally.  If InstaCal is open when default settings
are restored, click the Refresh Boards toolbar button to reflect the changes.

Which version of MCC's InstaCal software are you using?

Please reply with screen captures from InstaCal and additional setup information, if the issue is unresolved.

Fausto

Hi Fausto, thanks for the reply

We're using version 6.78.

This device is brand new so there's no history on it.

We can only establish connection with the device when we set the computer to DHCP, but we need to use it with a static IP of our choosing. We tried connecting using the default IP using InstaCal but it does not seem to be working. A board shows up, but we get an error when attempting to do anything wit it.

Best, -Dean

Dean,

Thank you for the screen captures.  If you reset the unit to the factory default network settings, then click on the 'Add Board' icon and select the 'ENET' tab.  Afterwards, change the 'Detection Type' to 'Automatic'.  Does InstaCal detect your E-DIO24 module?  If it does, then click the 'Add' button.

With the device in the list, right click on the device and select 'Configure'.

Next, click on the 'Network Settings' tab, set the configuration to 'Static', enter the desired subnet address in the Default Settings section, and then click the OK button.

InstaCal's board list will refresh and then show the E-DIO24 back in the list.

Please reply if still not resolved.

(btw...the current release version of InstaCal is v6.73.)

Fausto
