Iw@n
Hi all, As a proud new owner of a Digilent Genesys 2 board hereby a video of the Mandelbrot demo running on my board! I've had to make some very small changes to the design to disable the external Joystick, as I don't own a PMOD Joystick and Rotary Encoder (yet). My last experience with programmable logic was 22 years ago with a Lattice 20V8 GAL so I've made a quantum leap Greetings, Iwan
D@n
Wow! That is awesome! May I assume that you are recalculating the whole output multiple times a second to maintain that wonderful video display? Or did you precalculate it and fill a memory with it from which you then drew the display? Still, either way, it's really cool. Thanks for posting, Dan
Iw@n
Hi Dan, I'm not the developer of this demo but Hamster is, search for "Fractals on Genesys2" for a post from the original author.
hamster
Hi Iwan! That is a far better video than I can make with my cell phone. Hope you don't mind if I share it on Twitter. @Dan - yes, every pixel is calculated on the fly, requiring 255 complex FMACs per pixel, and some other stuff (or about 192,000,000,000 operations per second).
