USB-1608GX GND Connections

This is to inquire about a specification of the USB-1608GX DAQ. When this DAQ was connected to our system, we noticed that the AGND and the GND were connected to each other. This instance would occur across any AGND and GND. The method used to determine this information was through the use of a handheld Digital Multimeter. The question we have is whether or not these pins are supposed to be connected to each other or not? If not, what are the possible ways these terminals broke?
