  1. OK I have been using my Laptop with Ubuntu 23.10 (I upgraded) since Friday evening 12 Jan 2024 and havent had any further issues. I am going to consider the fix as Adding my username to the dialout group. Since doing that it has been working flawlessly all weekend. -Brian-
  2. About an hour ago i hooked up my ADP3450 back up to my laptop and started to attempt to install termite on Ubuntu... Not a successful nor pleasant task. Convoluted explanations online all 7+ years old... ANYHOW.. I said to myself well there must be "other" serial to USB terminal programs as I recall using some in the past. I opted for picocom as i install completely with one command in ubuntu. Next when i turned on my ADP3450 and attempted to use picocom to watch the serial stream i was getting a permission error "Cannot open /dev/ttyUSB0: Permission denied" which made me think of another old issue i had a couple years back with a different serial device. I need to add my user to the dialout group. Well once i did that and fired up everything i rcvd no errors on waveforms and was able to setup both the scope and the wavegen without issue. I've done this 4 or 5 times now without a single error. Im keeping my fingers crossed that this fixed the "Communication error" i was seeing in waveforms, im no expert but it does make sense. If I experience any further issues I will do another follow-up on this post OR create a new one. Now im on to trying to use my wifi dongle on the ADP3450 so i can remote into it hopefully instead of using a USB cable. -Brian-
  3. I will attempt to do this hopefully tomorrow after work, I take it i need to have termite running while m bringing up the ADP3450?
  4. When I start the Waveforms software using either Commandline OR the Waveforms App in my Software ( Im using Ubuntu Linux 22.04) I receive the following error reflected in my Terminal Window. Let me ask this aside from un installing the software using sudo dpkg -r is there another way to flush out ALL of the Waveforms software and start anew from scratch? Ive uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times but this error keeps being reflected in my terminal window. Sometimes it throws an error when trying to set up the scope function sometimes not. At this point i would like to start from scratch. -Brian-
  5. After uninstalling and reinstalling the software there are time it comes up and runs without issue. There are times that it faults causing me to have to go through the same gyrations all over again. I currently get the following error in my terminal window when issuing the sudo waveforms command: "QStandardPaths: XDG_RUNTIME_DIR not set, defaulting to '/tmp/runtime-root' " so to google i go there is a writeup on a website that explains a little regarding this error but offers NO solutions. That weblink is: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/382789/qstandardpaths-xdg-runtime-dir-not-set-defaulting-to-tmp-runtime-root-when I think I am inching closer to a resolution and am stubborn and will not give up. -Brian-
  6. Thank You JColvin I am using a USB port that is directly on my Laptop i do appreciate you responding. _brian-
  7. Just ordered and received from Amazon my NEW ADP 3450. Im looking forward to getting to use it but am currently experiencing errors with it when im trying to set the Scope up. With assistance i will get this going. Using a Linux Ubuntu Laptop to communicate with it. There are some troubleshooting things on my vehicle i primarily bought this for but will also use it for electronic hobby fun as well. -Brian-
  8. Im running Ubuntu Linux and connecting to the ADP 3450 via the USB Cable that shipped with the unit. I can initially start the software and get the Waveforms up and running when I enable the Scope Channel to configure and begin to move my mouse around i get a "DstmTransfer failed ERC: 3076" error. Which then causes my ADP to disconnect. Also when starting the software via CLI via "sudo waveforms" in the terminal i get "QStandardPaths: XDG_RUNTIME_DIR not set, defaulting to '/tmp/runtime-root' " I need assistance in getting it working. -Brian-
  9. Im back to troubleshooting this morning over coffee. Just so everyone can catch up, i recieved my ADP 3450 on 28 Dec, 2023 (This past Thursday) after ordering it from Amazon. I was excited until when i plugged it in and connected it to my Linux Ubuntu Laptop and installed the Adept Runtime software and with the Waveforms Software and it prompted me to update my firmware. I couldnt get this to work on my Linux Laptop and since i dont own Window Computers I asked a friend if i sould borrow his Windows Computer and did just that and got the firmware updated. Hmm I thought OK now i should be good. NOPE.... Now whenever i initially get the waveforms software up and running i select scope and move to set up the channel parameters i get a comm error on the screen see attached, and in the terminal window it echo's another error which i get when issuing the sudo waveforms command to start the software see attached.
  10. How was this issue resolved as I am also experiencing issues with Ubuntu when trying to run the software.
  11. I havee tried all the USB ports and the cable is the one that came with the ADP3450 i dont have another one handy.
  12. I uninstalled both the waveforms software and the adept runtime software. I used the sudo dpkg -i install command to install and the sudo dpkg -r to deinstall and still having the same issues.
  13. I originally hid it because i thought this issue was fixed however here I am a few hrs later and whenever i power it up and try to select my device i get the attached error and the power light on the unit starts blinking and i heard a relay inside the unit click when this occured,
  14. OK not sure what took place but after disconnecting it and reconnecting it seems to be working. So I am no longer in need of assistance.
  15. Alright, I went to a neighbor and used there computer to update the Firmware (via Windows) now when I connect it and turn it on i can hear a relay click inside the ADP3450 but when i start the software and click on Scope i get the following error see attached photo once the error is recieved i have a flashing power on light on the front of the ADP 3450.
