Device Opening Failed/Waveforms/Electronics Explorer

Title explains it. Cannot connect my Electronics Explorer Board to my mac out of the blue. Says "Device Opening Failed." Reinstalled Waveforms, unplugged and reset the board and computer. Tried a different USB cord from the brand new one that came with my brand new expensive Electronics Explorer board.

Any advice before this gets returned would be appreciated.

Hi mjw46,

To clarify, were you able to use the EE board with waveforms and then it just stopped working the error "Device Opening Failed." in waveforms? What version of MAC OS are you using?

I had zero issues a few weeks ago with the board. It currently is shown on the device manager in waveforms, but consistently says that device opening failed.

 

I am running macOS 10.12.3.

Hi mjw46,

Just to verify you have the 12v wall adapter plugged in and you see the red light on the EE board next to the power adapter port? If so, could you run the python script described in this forum and attach the output.

Hello,

The above script is for FTDI USB devices and it is no use for EExplorer having Cypress USB.

The USB controller on the EExplorer board is powered from the 12V supply. To reset this, disconnect the 12V and wait a few seconds before reconnecting it.

Could you send a screenshot with the WaveForms device manager and with the error message?
Could you try the board with another computer?
