MCC USB-TC (6069-410-021) Changing TC Type?

Question

Posted

Hi there,

I'm using an MCC USB-TC (sku  6069-410-021) and I seem to have a run into an instance where the TC types were reset to type J from their initial calibration (using InstaCal) as type K.

I primary use the device through the Python API (mcculw) and have mostly type K thermocouples attached to the DAQ, but I do have one type J.

Because of the similarities between type J and type K curves, this wasn't caught for some time, and so I'm at a loss for determining what could have caused the reset.

Does unplugging the board and plugging it back in cause this? Or updating/restarting windows? What are the conditions under which this might occur? I'd really like to avoid having it happen again in the future.

Thanks,

Patrick

Hello @Patrick G..

Cycling the USB cable between the target PC and USB-TC or moving the USB-TC to a different PC does not change the configurations of the input channels if saved to the board.  InstaCal prompts the user to save the thermocouple types to the board.  Also, the PC should prompt the user to run the HID Registry Updater when the USB-TC is moved to a different PC, but doing so does not reset the thermocouple types.  Be sure to cycle the USB connection after the HID Registry Updater before restarting InstaCal or your application.

Hi Fausto

Thanks for your response. So just to confirm, there should be no way a board with saved TC types should ever change without explicitly being reconfigured through Instacal (or some other API)?

Thanks again,

Patrick
