Trigger for MCC USB-1608G

Can Wu

Question

It appears my previous posts don't show any content. My apologies for redundant posts if there are any.

I'm trying to find a solution to synchronize the DAQ with another system. I'd like to repeatedly trigger the channels - one sample for each activated channel per trigger.

The datasheet talks about a retrigger mode that might serve this purpose. What is the minimal time between two external trigger signals? Can I trigger at 250kHz/# of channels?

Or are there any other synchronization solutions?

Many thanks!

Hello @Can Wu.

The USB-1608G does support a retrigger mode on the analog input and analog output subsystem.  Specify the number of samples you want per trigger in software.

The maximum (aggregate) sample rate of the analog input subsystem is 250 kHz.  At that rate, one could use a single external trigger to start a continuous acquisition and not need to rely on repeated triggers.

Since you are attempting to synchronize USB-1608G captured data with an external system, then retriggering at 250 kHz may not be possible.  You're probably looking to be closer to 200 kHz for a retrigger rate.

Many thanks, Fausto. This is very helpful!

Just would like to confirm my understanding - I will use the repeated trigger mode, activate one channel, specify one data point per trigger, and trigger at a rate of 200kHz. In this manner, I will sample the channel at 200 ksps (1 / (1 / 250kHz + +1 us) = 200kHz).

Is my understanding correct?
