Save data error question in WebDAQ504

shyang

Question

While measuring WebDAQ-504, the following saved data error occurred.

Setting conditions
1. sampling rate: 6400Hz, using 3-axis accelerometer
2. Storage: USB SSD (8TB)
[2024-Aug-14 09:47:22:425] job <LongTerm_SSD> queued

[2024-Aug-19 08:31:58:662] ***** <LongTerm_SSD> buffer overrun occurred
[2024-Aug-19 08:31:58:716] ***** <LongTerm_SSD> error: Unable to read buffer data fast enough

I started recording at 9:47 AM on August 14th under the conditions below, and at 8:30 AM on August 19th, I confirmed that there were no errors on the rear LED and that the media was blinking normally.

Question
1. I accessed webDAQ504 through MS edge on my PC. Buffer error occurred the moment I looked at the dashboard.
2. The data stored in the SSD memory was confirmed to be up to August 16th.

There is a captured content in the attached file.
Why do the above two problems occur?

Hello @shyang.

Please share the product spec/datasheet of the USB SSD.

Did the SSD not have enough space remaining at that time?

Can you test a different SSD with more available memory?

Can you identify any events that may have occurred at the time (2024-Aug-19 08:31:58:662) of the buffer overrun?

How often has this error occurred?

Regards,

Fausto

Hello,,

This is the datasheet of the USB SSD I am using.

Every time I test, an error occurs as you asked.

The continuous monitoring function is difficult to use every time I test.

Is there any limit to the maximum capacity of the USB memory?

In addition, when the save file is a single file (over 6GB), data conversion is difficult. Is there another way to convert it?

Thank you.

Hello @shyang.

You mentioned that an error occurs quite frequently, but you can save files greater than 6GB.

Which application and what steps do you take to convert the data?

There is no limit to the maximum USB memory capacity.  If you expect to acquire a large amount of data to a single file when logging to external media, do not use media formatted with the FAT32 file system. FAT32 is limited to a 4 GB maximum file size. If the log file on FAT32 media grows beyond that size, a "File too large" error is returned and the acquisition stops. Before starting a logging session of this type, reformat the media using a different file system such as NTFS.
